Stone rolls on to the South East
A North East restoration business has landed a £60,000 contract with the Royal Courts of Justice, after a string of high profile repairs tohistoric buildings.
Stone Technical Services (STS) has won a major contract to carry out further work at the Royal Courts of Justice following the recreation of the building¹sfamous steal and gold leafing.
STS has seen a major increase in demand for itsservices in London and the South East in the last year and now has plans toexpand the business from its Darlington headquarters.
Managing director, Dave Stone, said: “Historic buildings, like the Royal Courts of Justice, require an extremely high level of skilled workmanship because of their delicate nature.
“There is a lot of competition for prestigious work such as this but Stone is quickly forging a solid reputation in London and the South East which is helping us grow as a business and move towards our 2010 goal of openinganother regional office.”
Stone now employs 26 people, including seven in Middlesex, and specialises in high level maintenance as well as restoration and masonry refurbishment projectson churches and museums throughout the UK.
Now Stone will complete further high-level masonry work and internal gantrywork on the Royal Courts of Justice, which was first opened by QueenVictoria in 1882.
STS opened its South East offices in Pinner, Middlesex in March 2008 and saw demand for its services grow by around 20% in 2009.
The company has worked on a variety of well-known buildings in the London area including Selfridges, Westminster Abbey and Lambeth Palace.
