Monday Movers: Latest North East appointments
LAW firm Watson Burton has named Gillian Hall as a new senior partner.
Gillian’s new role at the Newcastle, Leeds and London-based firm, makes her the first female senior partner at a full service law firm in the North of England.
She has been a partner at Watson Burton since 1988 and has headed up the firm’s corporate department for over 18 years.
Gillian – a farmer’s daughter who was born and raised in the North East, said: “It is a privilege to be appointed senior partner in a firm characterised by its talent, determination to succeed and strong reputation, all of which are required to underpin long-term success. I am looking forward to working with our investor group in leading the firm’s growth and development. I am totally committed to building on our considerable strengths.”
Sunderland-based outdoor performance footwear brand, brasher, has announced the promotion of designer Glen Calloway and the recruitment of new junior designer, James Birk.
James Birk, who will report into Glen at brasher HQ in Sunderland, has been a student at Newcastle University for the past four years and is due to graduate in July with a degree in transport design. As a student James certainly made his mark, and was shortlisted for the Interior Motives Design competition, held in Paris. Like Glen, James is a keen outdoor enthusiast with interests including walking and snowboarding.
Both Glen and James will work closely with the rest of the five-strong product team, led by category manager, Philippe Galland, and will be responsible for the entire design process from initial design concepts, selecting colourways to sourcing product materials.
