Dote appoints new chief executive ahead of global launch
Manchester-based baby tech company Dote has strengthened its leadership with the appointment of Avril Murphy as chief executive as it prepares for its worldwide debut in 2026.
Avril brings decades of experience scaling global consumer tech brands across baby tech, health tech and connected home.
She will lead Dote through its transition from pre-revenue start-up to commercial business, with priorities including a seamless global launch, building a world-class team and overseeing the company’s current fundraise.
Avril said: “Having launched and scaled consumer technology brands globally, I’ve seen firsthand how the right technology can transform people’s lives.
“Since joining Dote, I’ve been continually impressed by what founder Stephen Senior and the team have built – the technology, the vision and the passion to fundamentally change how parents experience the early years of parenthood.
“To be in the trusted position to now lead this innovative company forward is a real honour, especially given how critical the next 12 months are.
“I’ve spent my career in consumer technology, and I can honestly say, I’ve never been more excited about a technology and its potential impact.
“We’re at an incredible inflection point where AI, machine learning hardware and software, and a genuine market need have converged.
“We’ve personalised every aspect of modern life except the one that matters most – raising our children.
“Parents get Netflix recommendations tailored to their viewing habits, workout plans customised to their fitness level, apps that help you bring plants back to life.
“But when it comes to understanding their baby’s sleep patterns, developmental milestones or safety needs – they’re given generic guidelines and left to figure it out for themselves.
“The parents we speak to are exhausted by the anxiety of generic conflicting advice and the limitations of current products.
“That’s what Dote changes.
“We’re using AI to deliver truly personalised guidance based on each child’s unique patterns and each family’s specific circumstances.
“That’s worth building a company around.”
Dote is evolving from a hardware business into an AI-driven platform that provides personalised parenting guidance. Its smart baby monitor learns each child’s unique sleep, safety and behavioural patterns to offer tailored support for parents.
The company has already secured partnerships with major retailers including Target, Amazon and Go10 in the UK, supplying to John Lewis, Currys, Mamas & Papas, Selfridges and Very, giving the brand immediate reach among millions of parents.
Stephen Senior, founder of Dote, added: “Without a doubt, 2026 is the biggest year of Dote’s life, and Avril is absolutely the right person to be leading us all at such a crucial junction.
“From growing our retail partnerships and subscriber base to assembling a top team, Avril is focused on delivering the growth and market presence both the company, and the parents it will support, deserve.”
